This is Marks story, written my his mother in February 2015.
“Our lovely son
Mark, died 9 years ago this February (died in 2006), aged 20, knocked down
outside our home as he walked home from work.
Sitting with him in ITU during the longest night of
our lives we made the decision to donate his organs so that something positive
could come from his death.
We were well supported by the transport Coordinator
for the Royal Liverpool Hospital. She was so kind and kept in regular touch to
keep us informed about the progress of the 6 recipients. We received letters from most of them and have
remained in regular contact with the mother of Daniel who received Mark’s
liver. It is very special to see his photos
and to learn about his progress and know the difference Mark’s gift has made to
both his and his family’s lives.
Mark was a mischievous, fun- loving young man with
many friends and a great talent for the guitar. None of us will stop missing him but will
always be comforted by the knowledge he has given the greatest gift of
all”
